Bastian LLC ("Bastian," "we," "us," or "our") operates a private online community platform for creative professionals (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.
By creating an account and using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
This Policy applies to all users of the Platform, including users located in the United States and Canada.
2. Who We Are
Bastian LLC is a limited liability company registered in the State of Delaware. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information collected through this Platform.

3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you create a member account, we collect the following information:
- First and last name
- Email address
- City, state/province, country, and time zone
- Professional discipline(s) and creative focus areas
- Profile picture (if you choose to upload one)
- Biography and professional description
- URLs linking to your external portfolio or social media profiles
We do not collect passwords. Access to your account is provided via a unique, single-use login link sent to your email address each time you wish to sign in.
We do not directly access, retrieve, or import any information from third-party social media platforms you link to in your profile.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on the Platform
- Referring URLs
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)
This information is collected through Google Analytics and our hosting infrastructure to help us understand how the Platform is used and to maintain its performance and security.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your member account
- To authenticate your identity and send you login links
- To display your profile to other signed-in members of the Platform
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Platform
- To analyze how members use the Platform using aggregated, anonymized data
- To communicate with you about your account or in response to your inquiries
- To send you marketing communications, where you have provided consent (see Section 7)
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
- To protect the safety, security, and integrity of the Platform
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on the Platform. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us recognize you and understand how you use the Platform.
5.1 Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function, including maintaining your login session.
- Analytics cookies: Used by Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about how visitors use the Platform. This helps us understand usage patterns and improve the experience. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _gid.

We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies.
6. How We Share Your Information
6.1 With Other Members
Your profile information, including your name, location, profession, disciplines, creative focus areas, profile picture, bio, and portfolio links, is visible to other signed-in members of the Platform. This information is not publicly accessible to non-members or search engines.
6.2 With Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to perform services on our behalf. These include:
- GoDaddy — website hosting and infrastructure
- Google LLC — analytics services (Google Analytics)
- Supabase — transactional email delivery (login links)
We will update this list as additional service providers are engaged.
6.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bastian LLC, our members, or others.
6.4 Business Transfers
If Bastian LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via a notice on the Platform or by email.
7. Marketing Communications
We do not currently send marketing or promotional emails to members.
In the future, we may introduce a marketing email program. When we do, we will only send marketing communications to members who have explicitly opted in. You will always have the ability to opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in each message, or by contacting us directly at privacy@meetbastian.co.
Transactional emails (such as login links) are necessary for the operation of your account and are not subject to marketing opt-out.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention or dispute resolution).
Analytics data collected through Google Analytics is retained in accordance with Google's data retention settings, which we have configured to 14 months.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include secure hosting infrastructure, access controls, and the use of single-use authentication links rather than stored passwords.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
In the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights or interests, we will notify you and any applicable regulatory authorities as required by law.
10. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for use by individuals aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 17. If we become aware that a minor under 17 has created an account, we will take steps to delete that account and the associated information promptly.

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.
11.1 All Members
Regardless of location, all members of the Platform have the right to:

- Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time
11.2 U.S. Members (State Privacy Rights)
Residents of certain U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Texas, and others with applicable privacy laws, may have additional rights, including:
- The right to know what personal information is collected about you and how it is used
- The right to request deletion of your personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

11.3 Canadian Members (PIPEDA)
Members located in Canada have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to access personal information we hold about you and the right to challenge its accuracy. 12. Third-Party Links
Member profiles may contain links to external websites and social media platforms (such as portfolio sites or professional networks). These links are provided by members and are not controlled by Bastian LLC. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and notify members via email or a notice on the Platform.
Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
